These are the rules for using artattack.art and the ArtAttack Discord server. Using either one means you agree to them.
Short version: be 13 or older, your art stays yours, don't post other people's work, follow the Content Standards, and understand that this is a free volunteer project that could break or disappear.
1. Who can use ArtAttack
You have to be 13 or older. If you're under 18, you should have a parent or guardian who knows you're here.
If you've been banned from ArtAttack, you can't come back with a new account. Doing that is a violation on its own.
2. Your account
Pick a password you don't use anywhere else. You're responsible for what happens on your account, so don't share it and don't let someone else post through it.
One person, one account. Alt accounts made to dodge moderation get banned along with the original.
If you think someone got into your account, email piko@artattack.art immediately.
3. Your art stays yours
You own everything you make. Posting it here doesn't transfer ownership, and we don't claim any rights to sell, license, or profit from your work.
What you do give us is narrow permission to run the platform. By posting, you let us:
- Display your work on artattack.art and in the Discord
- Store and back it up
- Resize or compress it so it loads
- Feature it in community spotlights, event galleries, or ArtAttack's own social posts, always with credit to you
That permission ends when you delete the work, except for copies already in backups, which cycle out over time, and reposts by other people that we can't control.
If you don't want your work featured anywhere outside the site, say so in your profile or email piko@artattack.art. We'll honor it.
4. What you post
Post it and you're saying it's yours to post. That means you made it, or you have the rights to it.
Don't upload:
- Someone else's art, traced work, or work you edited without permission
- Anything that breaks the Content Standards
- Anything illegal
- Malware, phishing links, scam links, or anything that damages someone's device or account
- AI art
You will be held accountable for the things you post.
5. Rules and enforcement
The Content Standards are part of these terms. Read them.
We can remove content, timeout an account, suspend it, or ban it, at our discretion, with or without warning. Moderators are volunteers making judgment calls. They will sometimes get it wrong.
If you think a decision was wrong, appeal through [APPEAL PROCESS]. Appeals go to an admin, not the moderator who made the call. Certain violations, listed in the Content Standards, don't get appeals.
We have no obligation to monitor everything or catch everything. Not catching something isn't permission.
6. Copyright complaints
If your work was posted here without permission, email piko@artattack.art with:
- What the work is and where the original lives
- The exact link to the copy on ArtAttack
- Your name and contact information
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and you're the owner or authorized to act for them
- Your signature, typed is fine
We'll remove it and tell the person who posted it.
If your work got removed and you believe that was a mistake, send a counter-notice to the same address with the same kinds of details, and we may restore it.
Repeat infringers get banned. And filing a fake claim to get someone's art taken down can make you legally liable, so don't.
7. This is free, and it's held together with tape
ArtAttack costs nothing and comes with no guarantees. It's provided as-is.
We don't promise it will be online, that your files are safe, that bugs will get fixed, or that it will still exist next year. Back up your own art somewhere else. Do not treat this platform as your only copy.
We may change features, restrict access, or shut the whole thing down at any time. If we shut down, we'll give as much notice as we reasonably can so people can save their work.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, the Mabray Family, and anyone volunteering for ArtAttack are not liable for lost art, lost data, downtime, or anything another user does to you.
If you cause a legal problem for ArtAttack by breaking these terms, that's on you, not the project.
Some places don't allow these limits. Where that's true, they apply as far as they legally can and no further.
9. Other users
We don't vet users. People misrepresent themselves online.
If you arrange a commission, trade, collaboration, or anything involving money with someone you met here, you're doing that entirely at your own risk. ArtAttack has no role in it, takes no cut, and cannot get your money back.
If someone makes you uncomfortable, report it. If they've broken the law, report it to the police, not just to us.
10. Ending it
You can delete your account whenever you want.
We can suspend or terminate your access for breaking these terms, and for serious safety violations we'll do it without warning.
Sections 3, 4, 8, and 11 survive after your account is gone.
11. Legal odds and ends
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in San Francisco County, California.
If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
These terms, plus the Privacy Policy and Content Standards, are the whole agreement between us.
We may update these terms. Material changes get posted on the site and in the Discord before they take effect. Continuing to use ArtAttack after that means you accept them.
